Okay, story time. Picture this: It’s mid-August. The sun is BEATIN’ down, and I’m craving something, anything, that’ll cool me off. I had a hankerin' for coffee (as always), but also felt that summer vibe callin’ for something…iced. And maybe, just maybe, something a little extra. That's when the idea of this iced chai latte, kicked up a notch with coffee and hazelnut, barged its way into my brain. Trust me, it’s way better than my original plan which involved, like, directly sticking my head in the freezer. Been there? Maybe not... maybe that's just me. Anyway, this drink? It's chef's kiss.
This Hazelnut Coffee Iced Chai Latte isn’t just a drink; it's an experience. The boldness of the coffee dances with the warmth of chai spices, all smoothed out by the creamy milk and the sweet, nutty kiss of hazelnut. Seriously, it's like a party in your mouth – a sophisticated, caffeinated party. What does this mean for you? It means ditching that boring, same-old-same-old iced coffee and treatin' yourself to something that actually makes you do a little happy dance. Oh, and tell me that it isn’t the most gorgeous drink you've ever seen! Seriously, this recipe is everything. Ready to dive in? Let's do it!

📖 Instructions
Brew Your Coffee: Start by brewing a double shot (about 2 ounces) of espresso or very strong coffee. Let it cool slightly, or pop it in the freezer for a couple of minutes to expedite the process.
Steep the Chai: While the coffee is brewing, steep a chai tea bag (or 2 teaspoons of loose-leaf chai) in 1/2 cup of hot water for 5-7 minutes. This allows the chai spices to fully infuse the water, creating a concentrated chai base. I usually steep mine on the longer side, cause more chai is more better. Strain the chai to remove the tea bag or loose leaves; we dont need anymore leafs then there is outside!!
Prepare the Hazelnut Syrup: If you're using store-bought hazelnut syrup, measure out 2 tablespoons. If you’re making your own (recipe to follow, below), make sure it's cooled before adding it to your latte. You can find the syrup at most local stores like target or walmart but I'd recommend maybe even making your own for a fuller, richer taste.
Assemble the Latte: In a tall glass, add ice cubes to fill the glass about halfway. Then, pour in the cooled chai tea, followed by the hazelnut syrup. This layering helps to create a visually appealing drink – and who doesn't want to look at a pretty beverage?
Add the Coffee: Gently pour the cooled coffee over the chai and hazelnut mixture. If you pour it too quickly, it might mix everything together, but hey, no stress! It'll still taste amazing! I like to use a spoon and pour it over it to make sure it all doesn't mix too much.
Top with Milk: Fill the rest of the glass with your milk of choice. Almond milk, oat milk, or regular milk all work well. If you want a frothy latte, use a milk frother to froth the milk before pouring it into the glass. If you dont have a frother, just shake the milk in a mason jar until you get a nice froth!
Garnish (Optional): For an extra touch of indulgence, top your latte with whipped cream and a drizzle of hazelnut syrup or chopped hazelnuts. It's a completely unnecessary step, but hey, who doesn't love a little somethin' somethin'?
Enjoy! Give it a gentle stir and sip away. Ahhh, that’s the stuff!
📝 Notes
Adjust the amount of hazelnut syrup to your desired sweetness level.
For a stronger chai flavor, use two tea bags or increase the steeping time.
Feel free to experiment with different types of milk to find your favorite combination.
Homemade Hazelnut Syrup Recipe: Combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts in a saucepan. Simmer for 15 minutes, strain, and let cool.
