A Cozy Cabin Getaway in the Mountains

Remember that time we almost got lost hiking in the snow? Yeah, that was fun. But this winter, let's plan something a little more... civilized. Picture this: a cozy cabin nestled in the snowy mountains, a crackling fireplace, hot cocoa, and maybe even a couples massage. We can spend our days snowshoeing through glistening forests, warming up by the fire with a good book, and gazing at the stars. I've been looking at cabins near Stowe, Vermont – they look amazing!

What to consider: Do you prefer rustic charm or modern luxury? What kind of amenities are important to you (hot tub? fireplace? fully equipped kitchen)? Research different cabin rentals and choose the one that fits your style and budget. Don't forget to check reviews!

Ice Skating Under the Stars

Ice skating is always romantic, but add some twinkling lights and frosty air, and it's pure magic. Find an outdoor ice rink in your city or town. Even better, find one with a beautiful setting – near a river or maybe under a canopy of trees. Maybe this year we could go ice skating at Rockefeller Center – that would be amazing! Pack some warm clothes, gloves, and a thermos of hot chocolate. And don't forget to hold hands!

A Winter Wonderland Drive

My husband and I love a good road trip. This winter, why not explore a scenic route that showcases winter's beauty? Think snow-covered mountains, frozen lakes, charming villages. I found a fantastic route through the Berkshires in Massachusetts that sounds magical. A winter road trip is all about cozying up in the car, listening to your favorite music, and admiring the landscape! Pack snacks, cozy blankets, and maybe even a festive playlist.

Snowshoeing or Cross-Country Skiing Adventure

Okay, so maybe snowshoeing sounds a tad less dangerous than our last hiking debacle... It's a great way to enjoy the winter landscape at your own pace. There are tons of amazing trails for both snowshoeing and cross-country skiing around the country. Before you hit the trails, make sure you're dressed properly for the weather. Check out local weather forecasts and pack extra layers of warm clothing. And don't forget to pack some water and snacks to keep your energy levels up.

A Romantic Winter Picnic

This might sound crazy, but a winter picnic can be incredibly romantic! Find a sheltered spot, pack a thermos of hot soup, some sandwiches, and a cozy blanket. We could even bring a portable Bluetooth speaker for some lovely music! The crisp air and quiet atmosphere create a perfect setting for an intimate moment. Just make sure you check the weather forecast beforehand to avoid getting soaked!

Visit a Winter Festival or Market

Many towns and cities host festive winter markets and festivals during the holiday season. It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit, enjoy local crafts, and indulge in some delicious food and drinks. Last year we visited a Christmas Market in NYC, and it was so magical! These events usually offer festive decorations, live music, and plenty of photo opportunities.

Go Sledding or Tubing

Embrace your inner child and go sledding or tubing! This is a fun and active way to spend a winter day. It can be pretty hilarious, too. Just be careful and choose a safe hill. Remember those childhood sledding accidents? Yeah, let's avoid those this year! Be sure to check the weather conditions; you don't want icy slopes.

Have a Cozy Night In

Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones that take place at home. Prepare a delicious meal together, watch a holiday movie, play board games, or just cuddle up by the fire. We could have a cozy night in with some of that hot cocoa – and maybe even order some takeout!

Try Ice Fishing

Okay, this might be a little more adventurous! Ice fishing is a unique winter experience, especially if you've never tried it before. It's a great way to test your patience and possibly catch dinner! Obviously, this is only if the lake you choose is safe to ice fish on. Make sure you check the ice thickness and safety recommendations before you head out. It’s best to go with someone who's done it before.

Learn to Ski or Snowboard

Want to take on a new challenge? Learning to ski or snowboard is an amazing way to make new winter memories. It can be a bit intimidating at first, but taking lessons from a professional instructor is always a good idea. It is also really important to get the right gear. It's a great way to build confidence and have a laugh or two! What do you say, honey? Should we learn to ski this winter?
