Before you even THINK about packing your glitter, plan your photo ops! I always scout locations beforehand – maybe it's that dreamy art installation everyone's talking about, a shaded spot to escape the heat, or a particularly vibrant flower field. Knowing where to go saves time (and sweat!) at the festival. Also, think about the time of day; that golden hour lighting is EVERYTHING. Trust me, I've seen sunrise shots that look straight out of a magazine. And don't forget to check the Coachella app for a map; it's your best friend for finding those hidden gems! Pro tip: check out the Coachella lineup and identify the stage backdrops you want for your awesome photos.

Don't be afraid to experiment! This is your chance to unleash your inner model. I like to try different poses – a casual leaning against a wall, a playful jump in the air, a dramatic gaze into the distance. Whatever feels authentically you! Having a few friends around is also a great idea, capturing some amazing group shots. If you have a specific outfit you love, find a backdrop to emphasize that. Don't just stand there awkwardly staring at the camera; let the energy of the festival show in your photos. Some of my favourite shots are candid, showing the vibes of the place.

Golden hour (the hour after sunrise and before sunset) is my personal fave. But even during the day, find spots with good natural light. Avoid harsh midday sun; it can make your photos look washed out. If you're going for a specific aesthetic (like a dark, moody vibe), then use shadows to create some interest. Also, get familiar with the lighting at different stages and times of day.

Coachella is overflowing with amazing details – the intricate art installations, the vibrant colors of the outfits, even the little things like the food trucks and the festival’s vibe. I love capturing these details to add depth and personality to my photos. Get up close and personal with the art installations, capture the colorful details of the clothes and accessories, and document the food. Show the festival's energy through the small details.

I used to rely heavily on filters, but I've learned that sometimes, less is more. A little touch-up is fine (we all need a little help sometimes!), but try to edit your photos in a way that keeps them looking authentic. I prefer a natural look to show off the natural beauty of the environment and the vibrant style of the outfits. There's just something about a candid, unfiltered moment that feels more real.

You don't need professional equipment to take amazing photos. My smartphone camera has consistently taken great pictures. I usually use the photo mode and avoid the video mode. Learn how to use the tools on your phone! Don't be afraid to experiment and try different angles and settings. A portable charger is a lifesaver, too; that phone needs to stay powered up!

Once you've got those killer shots, share them with the world (or at least your friends)! Use relevant hashtags (#Coachella2024 #CoachellaStyle etc) to reach a wider audience and post the shots on your socials and your blog. Remember to tag the people in your photos if possible. But most of all, have fun and enjoy the memories!
