Hey there, fellow jet-setters (or those who dream of it)! I recently attended a charity gala – the kind with a silent auction and way too much champagne – and let me tell you, the highlight wasn't the bubbly, it was the item up for grabs: a weekend getaway on a private jet. I'm not talking your typical cramped commercial flight; this was pure luxury. It made me wonder, what are the fastest private jets out there? That's what got me thinking about this post. So buckle up, because we're about to explore the world of high-speed private aviation!

Topping our list is the Gulfstream G700. This beauty boasts a top speed of Mach 0.925 – translating to a seriously impressive 700 mph (1130 km/h). It's got a range of nearly 8,000 nautical miles (14,800 km), meaning you could jet from New York to Hong Kong without needing to refuel! If I won the lottery, this would be top of my list. Seriously, the interiors? Stunning. Think less airplane and more high-end hotel room.

Second up is the Dassault Falcon 8X. While it might not be quite as fast as the G700 (it maxes out at Mach 0.90 – around 650 mph (1050 km/h)), its range is truly mind-blowing: almost 6,500 nautical miles (12,000 km). I’d love to be able to comfortably fly between continents on this baby, and not need to worry about any lay overs.

Comfort is key when you’re talking private jets, and the Bombardier Global 7500 delivers in spades. It’s remarkably spacious, and even though its top speed (Mach 0.90) might not blow you away, the luxurious experience makes up for it. Plus, it has a range of about 7,700 nautical miles (14,260 km). Imagine – crossing the Atlantic Ocean in absolute style!

This jet offers a great balance of speed (Mach 0.87 or around 610 mph (980 km/h)), range (4,000 nautical miles, 7,400 km), and affordability (relatively speaking of course!). It's a favorite among private jet owners who value versatility, which seems quite appealing to me too.
For those who value both efficiency and speed, the Cessna Citation Longitude is a strong contender. It's got a decent top speed (Mach 0.85, about 590 mph (950 km/h)) and a respectable range (3,500 nautical miles, 6,500 km). Not a bad option at all.
The Bombardier Challenger 3500 flies at a respectable Mach 0.87 (approximately 610 mph or 980 km/h). But it’s the sleek design and comfortable interior that truly sets this aircraft apart. It really speaks to the modern jet-setter. Range is a good 3,500 nautical miles (6500 km).
The Gulfstream G650ER is a well-established player in the private jet market. While its speed might not be quite as high as the latest models (Mach 0.925) it’s got a massive range (7,500 nautical miles or 13,890 km) and continues to be a popular choice for long-haul travel.
The Dassault Falcon 7X is another trusty workhorse in the private aviation world. With a top speed of Mach 0.89 (615 mph or 990 km/h) and a solid range of 5,950 nautical miles (11000 km), it provides a comfortable and reliable travel experience. Reliable and consistent – two great words.
The Embraer Legacy 650 prioritizes spaciousness and comfort. It might not be the fastest (Mach 0.85, 580 mph or 933 km/h), but its large cabin makes it a great option for groups traveling together. And for long-haul trips with a large group – the Legacy 650 will be good enough for a comfortable ride. Its range is around 4,000 nautical miles (7,408 km).

While technically a turboprop and not a jet, the Beechcraft King Air 350i deserves a mention for its speed and versatility. It's not as fast as the jets on our list, but it's a solid option for shorter trips – and a considerably more affordable one! I personally would go for a turboprop if I wanted to save some money, and I would absolutely recommend this to many.
