It all started with a street food stall in Bangkok. I was backpacking, completely broke, and craving something real. Not the tourist trap stuff, but authentic, local flavour. I stumbled upon this tiny place tucked away, run by a woman named Somchai. Her Pad See Ew was...well, it changed my life. Seriously. The noodles were perfectly charred, the sauce rich and savoury, the whole thing a symphony of textures and tastes. I knew right then, sitting on a plastic stool in the humid Bangkok night, that I wanted to share this incredible food with the world.
That's the story of how I discovered 'Taste of Thailand', and it’s a story I think is pretty important to understanding why I believe in this startup's global potential.

Taste of Thailand isn't just another food delivery app. It's about bringing authentic Thai cuisine to people everywhere, but doing it with a deep respect for the traditions and the people who create these dishes. It’s about Somchai – and hundreds more like her. We're working directly with local chefs and cooks, helping them get their incredible food online. We’re not just selling meals, we're sharing stories, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering small businesses. That’s the mission, and it’s bigger than profit margins. I've always felt strongly about supporting small businesses, so this resonates deeply with me. It's personally fulfilling, which isn't something you can put on a balance sheet, but definitely adds to the overall value.
So, why do I think this small startup has the potential to go global? It’s not just because Pad See Ew is awesome (though it is!). Here's the breakdown:
Of course, there are challenges. Scaling up, managing logistics across different countries... it's not going to be easy. But honestly? That's what excites me. Every hurdle is an opportunity to learn, grow, and refine our approach. We're in it for the long haul. We have a plan to overcome any obstacles. The support has been phenomenal so far, from family, friends and investors, but it is the incredible team that makes me most excited for the future.
I envision a future where Taste of Thailand is a globally recognised brand, synonymous with authentic, delicious food and a commitment to cultural preservation. I hope that one day you'll be able to order Somchai's Pad See Ew from your phone, no matter where you are in the world. We're well-positioned to take on the global stage and create opportunities for talented chefs and cooks along the way. It’s a lot of hard work. And honestly, sometimes there are sleepless nights. But the passion, the mission, the food... it all makes it worth it. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
