Hey footy fans! So, the AFL season's underway, and I'm buzzing with excitement! I've been glued to the telly, watching these fresh faces burst onto the scene. It's seriously electrifying to see the raw talent and sheer determination. Reminds me of when I first started playing... except, well, my skills weren't quite as polished. Anyway, let's dive into some of the rookies who've really caught my eye. This year's crop is stacked, seriously!

The 'Wow' Factor Rookies
This year there are a few standouts. Guys who just seem to have 'it'. That innate ability, that spark. You know the ones I'm talking about. Think Sam De Koning (Geelong); he's been impressive. His marking, his composure, he moves with a grace you dont see in many young players. You also have to keep a close eye on Jhye Ballard (West Coast) .This lad is quick as a whip. I'm seriously impressed with his agility and tackling prowess. A true game-changer. These two are definite names to remember. Maybe even pen them down, because they are going places.

Underdogs and Dark Horses
Then there are the players who maybe didn't make the headlines coming into the season; the quiet achievers. Players who, if you're not paying attention, will be gone before you know it! One of these players who I've been watching closely is Josh Rachele (Adelaide). He's had some amazing moments of brilliance and with some fine-tuning of skills, he could well be the next big thing. Keep your eye on him. Oh, and another one who is slowly but surely making his presence felt is Elijah Hewett (Fremantle). I'm really impressed with his tactical awareness, he seems to have an uncanny ability to read the game before it even happens!

The Ones to Watch Out For (and maybe even bet on!)
I’ve been spending a bit of time looking at the stats and what the bookies think. Now, I am not saying that you should place a bet... but... if you are looking for players who could be set for a fantastic season, here's my pick. This is purely speculation of course, but these are names that are likely to have a lot of influence over the next few seasons:
- Finn Callaghan (West Coast): His defensive prowess is amazing, I'd look out for this guy!
- Josh Ward (Essendon): His pace and skills are electrifying. He's a player who can single-handedly change the dynamic of a match.
- Will Ashcroft (Brisbane): An all-around impressive player. His composure under pressure is remarkable for such a young player. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come!
Of course, every player's journey is unique, and injuries can happen. But, based on the early stages of the season, these are the players who are causing a stir.
