Oh my god, Primavera Sound. If you're looking for a seriously diverse and mind-blowingly good lineup, this is it. They manage to pull together big names alongside up-and-coming artists that feel truly fresh and exciting. I went a few years ago, and seriously, the whole experience was just electric. I made so many new friends too! The location is also amazing – Barcelona in the spring? Come on! Plus, the food scene in Barcelona is incredible, so you'll be eating well the entire time. (Tip: make reservations for restaurants well in advance, cause it can get super busy)

Pitchfork is more than just a music festival; it's a cultural experience. Set in Chicago's Union Park, it has this really cool, urban feel. I love the curated lineup, always featuring a solid mix of established acts and newer, innovative artists. Plus, Chicago is an amazing city to explore, with great food, museums, and other attractions. This is more of a city-based festival that really immerses you in all the city has to offer!

Shaky Knees is all about the music. Seriously, the lineup is stacked with indie rock legends and breakthrough bands. It's also pretty huge. This one is usually held during spring, so it usually has a really fun, almost carefree energy. I especially loved the location in Atlanta; the city is vibrant with cool neighborhoods and a great culinary scene, adding to the whole festival experience!

Okay, so Austin City Limits isn't strictly indie, but they always have an incredible indie lineup alongside other genres. It's a huge festival spread over two weekends, which is insane! The location is amazing – Zilker Park in Austin is beautiful. If you're heading there, it’s also worth taking some time to explore all Austin has to offer—it's a vibrant city. But hey, you could just be here for the music too!

If you're looking for a more intimate and uniquely European experience, check out The Great Escape in Brighton, UK. It's a smaller festival, but it packs a massive punch when it comes to discovering new and exciting artists. Brighton itself is a quirky and cool seaside city, so even if you don't like the bands, you'll enjoy being there. Trust me!
