Before we dive in, let's talk supplies. You won't need a ton of fancy stuff. Think simple, affordable, and readily available. Here's my go-to list:

• Poster board: I like using thicker poster board; it gives a nicer finish. You can find this stuff at any craft store or even office supply places.
• Printer: If you're not an artist, a good quality printer is your best friend!
• Paper: Get some good quality printing paper; you don't want your designs to look faded or blurry.
• Scissors or X-ACTO knife: For cutting, obviously.
• Glue stick or tape: For assembling your masterpiece!
• Decorative elements (optional): This could be anything! Washi tape, glitter, stickers, paint...get creative!

Designing Your Dream Dorm Posters: Unleash Your Inner Artist!

This is where the fun begins! First, you need to figure out your overall aesthetic. Are we talking boho chic? Minimalist modern? Eclectic explosion? (That's my personal fave!). Once you've got your style, start brainstorming design ideas. Think about things that inspire you—your favorite quotes, pictures of your friends, maybe even a collage of your fave memories. I found some awesome vintage images online for free to help inspire my design! Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration if you are stuck.

Printing & Assembling Your Posters: The Finishing Touches!

Okay, your designs are ready to roll! Now it's time to print them out. Make sure to choose the right print settings on your printer for the best quality. Once everything's printed, carefully cut out your designs. I even used some cool washi tape for a funky border on mine. And here's a little tip: If you’re using thinner paper, back it up with some thicker poster board for extra durability. Trust me on this one!

Hanging Your Masterpieces: Show Off Your Style!

You've put in the work, now it's time to show off your amazing creations! Before you hammer anything into the wall (please check with your RA first!), take a minute to plan your layout. I use washi tape to temporarily hang things before I commit to putting holes in the wall. This lets me play around with different arrangements until I find the perfect look. Then, it's time to hang 'em up and admire your handiwork! Enjoy your gorgeous, custom-designed dorm room!

Want to take your dorm room posters to the next level? Consider adding some extra flair. Some of my friends incorporated 3-D elements like small figurines or pressed flowers into their designs.
