I remember sprinting out of bed, fueled by the sheer panic of being late. College mornings used to be a blur of frantic energy: hitting snooze until the last possible second, skipping breakfast, and rushing to class with my heart pounding like a drum solo. It wasn't pretty, and honestly, it wasn't effective. I was stressed, exhausted, and felt like I was constantly playing catch-up.

Those chaotic mornings often set the tone for the entire day. I'd arrive at class frazzled, find it hard to concentrate, and struggle to retain information. My anxiety levels were through the roof, and I was constantly on edge. It's like starting a race already winded – you're just not setting yourself up for success. Anyone relate? Anyone ever feel this way too?
Discovering the Slow Morning Magic

Then, I stumbled upon the concept of a 'slow morning'. A friend, bless her soul, suggested I try waking up just 30 minutes earlier to create a more relaxed start to my day. I was skeptical, but desperate for a change. I did it, and I was shocked at the difference it made. I started by enjoying a cup of tea on my porch, which was awesome, I had a moment to just breathe before plunging into academics. That time made me be more relaxed the whole day.

I get it, college life is hectic. But you don't need to reinvent the wheel to incorporate slow mornings into your routine. The key is to tailor it to your own needs and preferences. Experiment with different activities, find what works best for you, and be patient with yourself as you build a new habit. I believe in you; give it a shot! I messed up many times, but at the end it all paid off.
Practical Tips for Implementation:
- Start Small: Begin with just one or two changes. Don't try to overhaul your entire routine overnight.
- Prepare the Night Before: Lay out your clothes, pack your lunch, and gather your materials so you can start your day without rushing.
- Set Realistic Expectations: Don't aim for perfection. Some mornings will be smoother than others. Just keep showing up and doing your best.
- Use an Alarm Clock: Set up a normal and another alarm on the other side of the room. Force yourself to get up and start your day. It will get easier after just a couple of days.
