My Honest Qantas Review: What to Expect On Board (As of March 7, 2025)

Let me start with a confession. I'm a nervous flyer. Seriously, turbulence makes me want to hide under the seat. So, when I booked a Qantas flight from Sydney to London, I was... apprehensive, to say the least. I'd heard the stories, the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. So, I figured, who better to give you the lowdown on what to really expect than a nervous flyer who just survived a 24-hour flight?

This ain't your typical, overly-positive review. I'm spilling the tea – the good, the bad, and everything in between. Think of this as your best friend giving you the real deal before you hand over your hard-earned cash.

The Pre-Flight Jitters (and How Qantas Handled Them)

First impressions are important, right? Well, check-in was a breeze. No crazy lines, no chaotic meltdowns, just efficient and friendly staff. I even managed a quick chat with the check-in agent about my impending doom... I mean, flight! They reassured me, which eased some of my anxiety. Boarding was smooth as well. No major delays, which was a massive plus in my book.

Comfort and Space: Room to Breathe (or Not)

Now, for the big one – the seat. I opted for a seat with extra legroom, and boy am I glad I did. I'm 5'8'', and even then, I appreciate extra leg space! (Tip: If your legs are a bit longer than mine... you might want to splash out on business class).

The seat itself was comfortable enough, nice and padded, but let's be honest; after twelve hours in the air, you're still gonna be feeling a bit stiff. The entertainment system was amazing tho - tons of movies and shows. It saved me from going completely bonkers.

Food and Drink: A Culinary Adventure (or Not...)

Honestly, the food wasn't great, nor was it terrible. It was airplane food. I mean, let's be real; we all know what to expect. But I will give Qantas credit for actually having some healthy options on their menu, which was a nice change! The choice of drinks was decent, though I'd recommend bringing your own water bottle. You know how they always try and skimp on that free water?

One thing I did appreciate was the free earplugs and eye mask. These were total lifesavers and made a huge difference in terms of sleep, especially important for long-haul flights.

The Service: Smiles and Efficiency

The Qantas staff were, for the most part, friendly and helpful. There were a few moments where things felt a little rushed (I mean, it's a flight with hundreds of people!), but overall, the service was pretty good. They were efficient, polite, and always willing to help when needed. It was a pretty pleasant experience, all in all.

The Verdict: Would I Fly Qantas Again?

Yes, I absolutely would. Sure, the food wasn't Michelin-star quality, and my butt was a little sore after the flight, but the overall experience was positive. Plus, Qantas has such a big network, they're often the most convenient option, even with the cost. Plus, the free entertainment saved my sanity!
