A truly hygienic studio is almost obsessively clean, and this should be immediately apparent. If you're already noticing things amiss, it's time to move on. No exceptions. Trust your gut!

A tattoo artist who prioritizes hygiene will open those packages in front of you—no ifs, ands, or buts. Think of it like this: they're not only protecting you, they're protecting themselves too. If this isn't happening, then please, get yourself out of there! Remember, hygiene isn't a suggestion—it's a must!

The Artist's Hygiene Habits: Hands and Gloves
Before the tattoo begins, your artist should wash their hands thoroughly, and then put on fresh gloves. Yes, seriously! Watch them. It's not just about what they're doing with your skin, it's about how they're doing it! They should be changing their gloves frequently throughout the process. Proper hand hygiene is essential. If you see them not following these simple steps, it indicates a lack of concern and commitment to safety standards. It’s not worth the risk!

Look, I get it. We all want that unique design, that perfect placement. But don't skip the background check! A reputable studio will display their licenses and certifications prominently. These demonstrate that they've met specific health and safety requirements. This is where you get that extra reassurance, so never shy away from asking.
